Daily calcium intake is critical to great oral and whole body health.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Adults Require 1,000 mg Per Day<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The most well-known calcium source is milk. About three cups provides 1,000 mg. But if milk\u2019s not your favorite, don\u2019t sweat it! Calcium is also found in leafy greens, seeds, nuts, and other great foods. Here are some high-calcium foods, and how much of each you\u2019d need to eat to get 1,000 mg.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1-1\/4 cups of <strong>sesame seeds<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>5 cups of <strong>white beans<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>2 cups <strong>fortified orange juice<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>2 cans of <strong>salmon<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1 cup of <strong>tofu<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>2-1\/2 cups of <strong>almonds<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>5 cups of <strong>spinach<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Obviously, you&#8217;ll want to mix and match each day.<\/strong> Very few people eat a whole cup of sesame seeds!<\/p>\n<p>Here are the daily calcium amounts recommended by the National Institutes of Health:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ods.od.nih.gov\/factsheets\/Calcium-HealthProfessional\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7348\" src=\"http:\/\/contentlibrary.socialmediafordentistry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/10\/tablecalcium.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"543\" height=\"418\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Know What Nutrition Labels Mean!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We see these labels all the time! Improper calcium intake can lead to muscle cramps, abnormal heart rhythms, and lethargy. <strong>However, the most common and severe side effect is osteoporosis.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many people know that osteoporosis increases the risk of broken bones. <strong>It can also greatly increase our risk of tooth loss!<\/strong> Our jawbone anchors our teeth, and if the jawbone isn\u2019t strong, teeth can become unstable.
