Take A Look At Your Toothbrush<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Are the bristles starting to look bent, worn, or frayed? Or, are the bristles starting to look like they\u2019re parallel to your teeth instead of perpendicular? If so, it\u2019s time for a new toothbrush. Has somebody else used your toothbrush (gross)? If so, they\u2019ve contaminated it with the bacteria in their<\/em> mouth\u2014and if you<\/em> use it, you\u2019ll expose yourself to any disease or sickness they may have. Again, it\u2019s time for a new toothbrush.<\/p>\n

The American Dental Association<\/strong> recommends that you replace your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months<\/strong>. Old toothbrushes lose their structural ability to thoroughly clean, and fraying bristles don\u2019t clean well between<\/span><\/strong> your teeth. Fraying bristles can also be hard on your gums<\/strong> and can even cause damage to your gums.<\/p>\n

Are You Storing Your Toothbrush Correctly?<\/strong><\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Store it upright<\/strong>, and keep it out of contact<\/strong> with the bathroom counter.<\/li>\n
  • Keep it out of contact with other people\u2019s<\/strong> toothbrushes.<\/li>\n
  • Keep it far away from the toilet splash zone (gross, again).<\/li>\n
  • Make sure it dries between uses.<\/strong> Toothbrush covers are handy for travel, but at home your toothbrush needs to air dry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    When you get a new toothbrush, keep these tips in mind:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Get the size<\/strong> that fits in your mouth comfortably and reaches everywhere.<\/li>\n
    • Hard bristles can wear enamel unnecessarily. Soft bristles<\/strong> are usually better.<\/li>\n

      What Can You Do With That Old Toothbrush!?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Well, you could<\/em> just throw it away. But that\u2019s boring! There are all kinds of uses for old toothbrushes\u2014like cleaning, painting, and yes, bracelet making!<\/strong><\/strong>Here are two videos that show you how to make a cool bracelet out of your old toothbrush (by the way, the second video doesn\u2019t have any sound). If you don\u2019t want to do this yourself, do you have a child, niece, nephew, grandson, granddaughter, or neighbor that would have fun <\/strong>doing it?Share the idea, or invite them over and try it together<\/span>!<\/strong><\/p>\n
