Where Did You
Study Dentistry?
Dr. Shelly completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, graduating Magna Cum Laude. From there, she pursued her dental doctorate at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Her dedication and skill in the field have earned her several honors, including the Kathryn M. Strong Scholarship, the National Dorothy Shaw Leadership Award, and the Ella Pierce Turner Award. As for post-graduate education, she’s studied short-term orthodontics, dental implant placement, oral conscious sedation, dental implant placement, and advanced restorative and cosmetic procedures through the Spear Dental Academy.
One of Dr. Shelly’s proudest professional achievements has been providing dentistry for the Indian Health Services to the Salish and Kootenai Indian Tribes in Polson, Montana. Her time spent living on Lake Flathead (the largest body of fresh water west of the Mississippi) was incredibly rewarding, and she found it very meaningful to provide much-needed care to an underserved population while also enjoying the great gifts of the beautiful surroundings and culture-rich area.
Today, Dr. Shelly is a member of the following dental organizations:
- American Dental Association
- Georgia Dental Association
- Academy of General Dentistry
