Meet Our Greensboro, GA Dentists
Dr. Shelly Pound
Originally from Gainesville, Georgia, Dr. Shelly Pound studied at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D.) from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
Dr. Shelly is a member of the American Academy of General Dentistry, Georgia Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Association of Women Dentists, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Her dedication and skill in her field have earned her the Kathryn M. Strong Scholarship, the National Dorothy Shaw Leadership Award, and the Ella Pierce Turner Award. Her post-graduate education includes coursework in short-term orthodontics, as well as the placement and restoration of dental implants. Dr. Shelly has also been trained in advanced cosmetic and restorative procedures through the prestigious Dawson Center for the Advancement of Dentistry and SPEAR Center.
Dr. Shelly’s other professional accomplishments include providing dentistry for the Indian Health Services to the Salish and Kootenai Indian Tribes in Polson, Montana. She says that her time spent living on Lake Flathead (the largest body of fresh water west of the Mississippi) was an incredibly rewarding experience. She loved having the opportunity to provide much-needed dentistry to such an underserved population, all while enjoying the great gifts of her beautiful surroundings and the culture-rich area.
Of all the wonderful things about working in our practice, Dr. Shelly says what she loves most is the ability to help her patients achieve and maintain healthy and beautiful smiles.
Dr. Shelly is happily married to her husband Jep and has one child, Eva Barbara. In her free time, she enjoys tennis, boating (she’s looking forward to improving her skiing), running, shooting sporting clays, and deep sea fishing. A talented fisher, Dr. Shelly has even caught a 120 pound striped marlin (ask her to see the photos!)
